Totally normal and part of the regeneration strategy. My 2019 does a regeneration every 24 hours of run time (total, idle & driving) which for me is usually between 1,000 and 1,200 miles regardless of what the dpf gauge is reading. I think that because of this, the filter will last a long time due to the preventative cleaning it gets.
Active regeneration is when raw fuel is injected into a diesel oxidation catalyst to reach the appropriate DPF regeneration temperatures. Passive regeneration and dynamic generation do not require input from the vehicle operator. Passive regeneration does not require checking engine light codes shown on the vehicle dashboards. 3. Passive
This process will take 20-60 minutes and will use about half of the engineâs fuel. You can also hear a faint whistling sound. How Long Does DPF Regen Take? In order to keep emissions at safe levels and maximize fuel efficiency, a truck must be regularly regen its diesel particulate filter (DPF).
In order to carry out a forced DPF regeneration, the correct diagnostic or reset tool must be used. This operation could take up to 30 minutes. Ensure the regeneration process is conducted in a safe environment as exhaust temperatures will be very high. Filters require more maintenance than catalytic converters.
Apr 17, 2017. 0. my truck ask for parked regen once in 8-9 months before but last time i had a parked regen 1800 miles ago,it took 2 hrs but now i again i get a light 3 hrs ago and since then it is doing parked regen and still counting.is it normal. Ranabha, Apr 17, 2017. #2 + Quote Reply.
Depends on the type of driving basically. On my T5.1 2.0L, mostly doing motorway it'll regen after about 300miles or so. Regen takes about 20-30 mins. If you do short trips it'll regen sooner and will kick off a regen when it needs it even if you are sat at traffic lights.
+1 My Sprinter did a regen cycle after I reached the summit of a long mountain climb. I watched the DPF temp climb from 750^ to 1200^ in a matter of seconds. About 10 minutes later it was back to "normal" in the 500^ range. I also like to know whats going on. The Scangauge2 is a good product. _____
The Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF) is there to catch the soot from going into the air. As this builds up in the DPF the back pressure will raise. When the DPF get "full" the it will go through a regeneration (regen) process. This is done by injecting raw diesel into the exhaust to raise the temperature in the DPF to burn off the soot. Hope
